Diversity in Advertising

One of the reasons I started YRC is to have a space to share my thoughts on topics that I’m passionate about. One of those is diversity and inclusion. Diversity is important. It’s the right thing to do. Organizations should reflect the world as it is. It enhances creativity–remember that post about how diverse creative exploits leads to better ideas? It works the same way with teams. Diverse teams are more creative and they perform higher.

Earlier this year, I was selected to join the American Advertising Federation’s (AAF) Mosaic Next Generation Leadership Council on diversity and inclusion. In June, I went to the AAF’s national conference to take part in Mosaic Center’s programming. The conference was an amazing experience that connected me to other people of color who loved this industry as much as I do. Upon retuning from the conference, I put together a presentation on diversity and inclusion for my former agency.

This was one of my favorite projects that I’ve worked on professionally. Take some time to check it out. I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
